Bringing the ocean to life in the classroom
The Marine Institute's Explorers Education Programme brings ocean literacy and engagement to primary schools around Ireland. We bridge the gap between the classroom and the coast by providing a national network of outreach officers who deliver hands-on marine science and cross curricular content to primary schools.
By offering expert-led school visits, accredited teacher training, and a vast library of free curriculum-linked resources, we empower the education community to embrace our rich marine heritage, understand our local biodiversity, and learn how to make informed, responsible decisions about our environment and resources.

Book a Class Visit
We provide primary school teachers with the support and opportunities to teach students about marine life, environmental awareness, and ocean conservation. Host a saltwater aquarium in your classroom, explore the local seashore, dive into a thematic marine project, or participate in a workshop, we are here to provide expert guidance, interactive education resources and kits, and comprehensive cross-curricular lesson plans.
