What the database covers
The database brings together information on marine research projects funded in Ireland from 2017 onwards. It includes nationally funded projects from members of the Marine Research Funders' Forum, international projects with Irish participation, and projects of all sizes from short studies to multi-year research projects.
For EU-funded projects, the database shows only the funding received by partners in the Republic of Ireland.
Funding organisations represented
The database includes project data from key public funders including Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Environmental Protection Agency, Geological Survey Ireland, Marine Institute, Met Eireann, Research Ireland, and Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
For projects supported by co-financing from European Structural and Investment Funds, the appropriate national funder is displayed as the lead funder.
Data quality and updates
The Marine Institute compiles the database using information from public sources and funding bodies. While the aim is to keep the data accurate and up to date, some project information may change over time, some information may be incomplete or subject to change, and users should check linked sources for the most up-to-date project information.
The database may be updated or revised at any time. Full Marine Institute online policies, including Terms of Use, are available on the Marine Institute website.
